What are frivolous lawsuits?
There’s a certain violence that goes unreported to the police every day in America. This violence occurs to a third of all US citizens over their lifetimes, but you don’t often see it reported in the news headlines. Millions and millions of cases a year…but you might think it can’t happen to you. What are these violent acts that slide by the authorities?
We are talking about the legal violence of frivolous lawsuits. Yes, the baseless lawsuit, grounded in fantasy, that requires a few hundred dollars to file, but tens of thousands to defend.
When it comes to lawsuits, the US is by far the world superpower. Millions of civil lawsuits are filed every year. Law schools pump out 40,000 new lawyers a year. Many of these lawyers will become the bottom-feeding contingency attorneys who hunt down “deep pocket” defendants to shake down for an easy payday.
With no recourse or punishment for filing a frivolous lawsuit, there is only incentive to file more lawsuits. Hug your nephew too hard? There’s a lawsuit for that. Text during a movie? There’s a lawsuit for that. Dog bark too loud? There’s a $500,000 SUCCESSFUL lawsuit judgment for that!
As an asset protection attorney, I’ve witnessed firsthand the financial and emotional damage caused by frivolous litigation. With the loss of privacy in our society, it will only become easier to locate targets for these silly lawsuits. More and more information is made available regarding how much you earn, what you own, and how much it’s all worth.
At LayRoots, I like to tell people that I make “lawsuit repellent.” You see there is a way to live your life and own your assets that prevents stupid lawsuits and keeps you from being the victim of unfounded legal violence.
